The Brick Project was a collaboration between the Architecture Department and the Ceramics Department at the Cranbrook Academy of Art in 2005. Five teams, that consisted of both Ceramicists and Architects, developed a Brick in order to explore new patterns and shapes that can be created from a repeating unit, as well as ways to fit and join the units together. The Brick shown here represents the shape, dimension, and pattern of the mortar placed between a conventional brick. 500 Bricks were manufactured and placed/stacked into different forms and shapes over the course of a week during the "Brick Show" in the student gallery.
